Quality defects, counterfeit and stolen products

The Quality Defects Unit deals with the solution of quality defects in medicines and excipients to protect the public from quality defect medicines. It ensures that the relevant measures taken concerning quality defects are communicated. The QD department also deals with falsified medicines originating in the legal distribution chain and addresses the issue of pharmaceutical manufacturers’ non-compliance with good manufacturing practices. It ensures the performance of the Institute’s round-the-clock service for quality defects in medicines. The Unit is involved in international communication for the exchange of information on drug quality defects and counterfeits through the Rapid Alert system.
