Pharmacopoeial publications

A pharmacopoeia is an essential pharmaceutical work of standardisation nature, which helps to ensure safe, effective, and quality pharmaceuticals. Responsibility for the accuracy of pharmacopoeia texts lies with the Pharmacopoeia Commission of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, which cooperates with the European Pharmacopoeia Commission, whose member the Czech Republic has been since 1998.

Pharmacopoeia The operation of the Pharmacopoeia Commission of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and its expert sections is organised by the Technical Secretariat of the Pharmacopoeia Commission, which organisationally and materially forms part of the Department of Pharmacopoeia and Standardisation of Medicines of SÚKL (LKS).

The Pharmacopoeia Commission regularly publishes information on the binding nature of European texts on the website of SÚKL and in SÚKL Bulletin. Translations of these texts, supplemented with country-specific details, are published by the Ministry of Health in the Czech language as the Czech Pharmacopoeia.

The department of Pharmacopoeia and Standardisation of Medicines in SÚKL, in cooperation with the Pharmacopoeia Commission,  arranges for the translations, revisions, and expert assessment of European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.) texts, the drafting, revisions and expert assessment of national articles in collaboration with manufacturers, the preparation of the draft pharmacopoeia for printing, and the preparation and distribution of national chemical reference substances.
